To begin assembling your Stromboli Delight, the first step is to spread the marinara sauce evenly across the rolled-out dough. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to cover the surface with a thin layer of sauce, leaving about an inch around the edges. This margin is crucial for sealing the Stromboli later. The marinara sauce not only adds moisture but also infuses the dish with a robust flavor that complements the cheese and toppings perfectly. Be sure to choose a high-quality marinara sauce or even homemade if you have the time. This will elevate your Stromboli Delight to a whole new level.

Ingredients

1 lb pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)

1 cup marinara sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup sliced pepperoni

1/2 cup sliced bell peppers (red, green, or yellow)

1/2 cup sliced black olives

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Sea salt and black pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, approximately 12x16 inches in size.

Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by the pepperoni, sliced bell peppers, and black olives.

Add the grated Parmesan cheese on top and sprinkle with oregano, garlic powder, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper.

Starting from one long side of the rectangle, gently roll the dough into a tight log, tucking in the filling as you go. Pinch the seams to seal the Stromboli and tuck the ends to prevent the filling from spilling out.

Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Brush the top of the Stromboli with olive oil and sprinkle with a little extra oregano.

Using a sharp knife, make a few diagonal slashes on the top of the Stromboli to allow steam to escape.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.

Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes before slicing it into thick pieces.

Serve warm with additional marinara sauce for dipping and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
