1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)

1 packet onion soup mix

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

4 slices cheddar cheese

4 burger buns (preferably brioche)

4 tablespoons mayonnaise

4 tablespoons sweet relish

1 small red onion, thinly sliced

1 cup shredded lettuce

Pickles for topping

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with the onion soup mix, garlic powder, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; overmixing can lead to tough burgers.

    Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form each into a patty slightly larger than the burger buns, making a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

      Grill the Burgers: Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat and add a little cooking oil. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.
