Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 tablespoon red food coloring

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Cream cheese frosting (for topping, optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it’s completely melted. Remove from heat and mix in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and red food coloring until evenly incorporated.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined—be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to overbake to maintain the fudginess.

Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. If desired, spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top once fully cooled.

Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy your deliciously fudgy red velvet brownies!
