Ingredients

4 large flour tortillas

8 oz (225g) sliced ham

8 oz (225g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend)

1/4 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon dried Italian herb mix (optional)

Olive oil or cooking spray for toasting

Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian herb mix. Stir until well mixed and creamy.

Assemble the Pockets: Lay a tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture over the entire surface of the tortilla. Place 2 oz of sliced ham on one half of the tortilla, followed by 2 oz of shredded cheese.

Fold and Seal: Fold the tortilla in half, over the ham and cheese. Press down the edges to seal the pocket. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for an extra-tight seal.

Toast the Pockets: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with olive oil or cooking spray. Carefully place the folded pocket onto the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the tortilla is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Repeat: Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas, ham, and cheese until all pockets are cooked.

Serve: Remove the toasted pockets from the skillet and let them cool for a minute. Slice them in half, garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives, and serve warm.
