Ingredients

1 lb ground pork (or chicken)

1 cup shredded cabbage

½ cup shredded carrots

½ cup chopped green onions

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)

1 package egg roll wrappers

Oil for frying

Optional: sweet chili sauce for dipping

Instructions

Prepare the Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté minced garlic and grated ginger for about 1 minute until fragrant. Next, add the ground pork (or chicken) and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.

Add Vegetables: Once the meat is browned, stir in the shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, and chopped green onions. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.

Season the Mixture: Pour in the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sesame oil, Cajun seasoning, and hot sauce. Stir well to combine all the flavors and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Assemble Egg Rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner facing you. Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the filling in the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly away from you. Seal the edges with a bit of water.

Fry the Egg Rolls: In a large frying pan or deep fryer, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add a few egg rolls at a time, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove them and drain on paper towels.

Serve: Serve hot, with sweet chili sauce on the side for dipping to enhance the “voodoo” experience!
